September 6th

Kollectiv, Folkestone
Doors Open 19:00

If you’re a writer, or just simply interested in the literary arts in Folkestone and Hythe, then we cordially invite you to join us for our open house event. We will be sharing what the guild is, what it means to become a member, and what we want the guild to grow into.

Our Mission

Good writing is founded in experience and culture. You are inspired by an experience and you want to share it with your culture. I believe motivation for good writing comes from that sentiment. So if you have motivation, the next step is skill; communicating your experience well. Once you have that you need support and connections to get your work published. This is what the guild is about. Meeting writers where they are at and encouraging them on every step of that journey.

The key objective of the guild is to help writers through accountability, education, and connections. Having a writers group gives you a time and a place to be for you to keep up with what you want to write. The workshops teach you the various skills to make your story well written, whatever the format. The Guild Ink is a place online for your work to be shared. And the networking events serve as a chance to meet other writers and see what other stories are being told.

How We Support Writers

Writers Groups

An important part of writing is accountability and constructive criticism. A lot of writers would relate to the procrastination cliche. Meeting a writers group gives you a set time to write, an opportunity to share, and a chance for feedback.

Workshops

Each session begins with a talk from an experienced writer offering insights into an aspect of the craft, be it character, dialogue, structure, or style, followed by a practical writing exercise and group feedback. It’s an encouraging space to learn, write, and grow together.

Guild Ink

A space to share, explore, and celebrate writing in all its forms. From short pieces to excerpts and reflections on larger works, Guild members can use this platform to showcase their voice and connect through creativity.

Through networking, members find encouragement, collaboration, and opportunities to grow. Whether you're seeking feedback, creative partnerships, or just someone who understands the writing life, the Guild connects you with others who share your passion.
